I went to the Hanatoro festival in Gion last night, and this is some of what I saw:
Popular shrines and streets were illuminated with thousands of lanterns, as street vendors served taiyaki, hot sake, candied fruits, meat skewers, and roasted chestnuts, and various performances took place.
